Melbourne physiotherapist Pete
Director & Senior Physiotherapist

With over 25 years’ experience as a physiotherapist in Melbourne and Sydney, Pete is both a sought-after physio and industry mentor. With a keen interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation and postural syndrome, he has a wide skill set, gained from working in both private practice and large sports physiotherapy clinics.

Previously the Director of clinics at The University of NSW and The Mater Hospital, Pete’s diverse physio career has seen him treat national and local level AFL, rugby union, rugby league, baseball, judo and water polo athletes, as well as elite dancers. A keen sports fan, he also toured internationally with the Australian Judo team—a gig that scored him a pass to the World Championships in Rio!

With his feet now firmly on the ground in Melbourne CBD, Pete took over Collins Place Physio in 2013, transforming it into one of the leading physiotherapy clinics in Melbourne. Working with a mix of athletes, weekend warriors and desk-bound office workers, Pete became increasingly interested in postural syndrome, and its impact on health and productivity.

Seeing a gap in the market, Pete seized the opportunity to introduce a more integrated clinic model. The result, revealed in August 2019, is The Alignment Studio—Melbourne CBD’s premium physiotherapy, Pilates and wellness hub. In launching The Alignment Studio, Pete hopes to provide a complete suite of health and wellness services that will allow patients to not just be pain free but to reach a higher state of performance in their personal lives.

Top tip for better musculoskeletal health…

“Move! Find out what you enjoy and commit to it. If you don't like to swim, run or ride...don't. Find what gives you and your body joy!”

Go-to stretch…

“The Levator Scapule stretch. I call it the 'sitter's stretch' as this muscle which runs from the base of the skull to the top of the scapula (shoulder blade) gets tight/spasmed with bad sitting posture. Which in our 21st century lifestyle is so prevalent.”

Favourite way to unplug, unwind and recharge…

“A good relaxation massage! No devices, no emails, no phone calls… just a precious hour when I allow my mind to be meditative.”
