Before you Start

CLINICAL PILATES: Before starting Clinical Pilates Classes, you are required to complete our QuickStart Program of up to three private sessions with a physiotherapist.  Your first session will be a comprehensive consultation during which your physio will assess your musculoskeletal health, movement patterns and discuss your goals in order to devise your individual program.  Real-time ultrasound may be used to provide visual feedback around the correct core muscle activation.
Your one-on-one sessions will introduce you to a range of Pilates equipment and ensure you are performing your rehab exercises safely and effectively.  The majority of clients will then feel confident in transitioning to our small group classes (maximum three people), where they will continue to receive clinical supervision for their individualised program.  Please call reception on 9650 2220 to book your assessment.
STUDIO & REFORMER PILATES: An initial one-on-one with a Pilates instructor is required before starting Studio Pilates group classes.  This is to discuss your individual goals, assess your movement and introduce you to various pieces of Pilates equipment.  Depending on your level of fitness and experience, you may also benefit from an initial one-on-one before joining Reformer Pilates classes.  If you have an injury or chronic health condition, please talk to our friendly reception staff before booking any Pilates classes as an initial physio consult may be required.

How to Book

Bookings may be made online, over the phone or in person at the studio.

What to Wear

For any of our classes, please come dressed ready to move that body. This means comfortable clothing, such as leggings or shorts and a tee or tank.  NOTE: For all Pilates Classes, we require you to wear socks for hygiene reasons. We sell a range of Grip Socks at the studio.

What to Bring

Yourself, your socks and a water bottle. (Note: We are a single use plastic-free zone, so BYO water bottle to fill up at our water cooler.)  Yoga mats are provided; however, please feel free to bring your old faithful from home.

Facilities

Please note, The Alignment Studio is a boutique facility and as such DOES NOT have a shower or change room.  Please come prepared for class. (There are toilets within Collins Place, should you need them.)

Studio Etiquette

The Alignment Studio is a tranquil space designed to help you, and other clients, unplug, unwind and recharge.  Therefore, please ensure your phone is switched off or on silent. If you must answer a phone call, please step outside to do so.

Cancellation Policy

As a boutique studio, we intentionally keep our classes small and personalised.  Due to this, please be aware we require 12-24 hours’ notice if you wish to cancel out of a pre-booked class.  Failure to do so will result in you being charged for the class/having a class deducted from your pack despite non-attendance.  For full cancellation policy for each class type, please visit our FAQs.

Claiming on Private Health

Due to recent regulatory changes, Yoga and Pilates are no longer covered by private health insurers.  This applies to our Reformer and Studio Pilates sessions—including those taken by a physiotherapist.  However, if you have extras cover for physiotherapy, you should be able to claim a rebate for Clinical Pilates Classes (classified as Group Physiotherapy).  Please contact your provider for information specific to your policy, and request your itemised receipt from reception.
