Move, improve & strengthen with clinical pilates in Melbourne CBD

When it comes to maintaining mobility, strength and flexibility, we believe in the motto ‘move it or lose it’. For this reason, Clinical Pilates and Rehabilitation is an integral part of our offering at The Alignment Studio. Incorporating Pilates based movement, these active physiotherapy sessions allow those with injury, pain or dysfunction to engage in a dynamic and personalised rehabilitation program under clinical supervision.

Work towards your movement goals safely with Clinical Pilates in Melbourne CBD. Private and small group classes are available.

What Is Clinical Pilates – And Who Is It For?

Therapeutic and evidence-based, our Clinical Pilates classes use personalised, physio-prescribed exercises to enhance your movement and speed up your recovery. Designed for clients with injuries, biomechanical inefficiencies, chronic pain, or illness, these sessions blend physiotherapy with Pilates and exercise science. Both small group (maximum of 3 participants) and individual sessions are available.

Empowering you to be active in your own recovery, our physiotherapist-run sessions can assist in the management of:

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Rotator cuff and shoulder injuries
  • Hip, knee, or ankle pain
  • Postural issues
  • Balance and coordination problems
  • Restricted mobility
  • Maternal health (pre and postnatal)
  • Women’s health and pelvic floor weakness
  • Degenerative and neurological disease

Free from injury and pain and looking to improve your fitness? We recommend trying our Express Reformer Pilates classes. However, please note private health rebates do not apply to Reformer or Studio Pilates classes—including those taken by a physio.

  • May assist with childbirth and recovery

All new clients are required to complete our QuickStart Clinical Pilates Program before transitioning into group classes. The QuickStart Program involves a series of up to three one-on-one sessions with a physiotherapist. After a thorough initial assessment—often utilising real-time ultrasound to provide visual feedback around the correct core muscle activation—we structure an individualised program around your injury history and movement mechanics.

During your private sessions, we introduce to you to any Pilates equipment that might be used during your rehabilitation. This ensures your exercise program can be conducted effectively and safely in a small group environment.

Once you’ve completed the QuickStart Program, you can continue with private sessions or move into our group physiotherapy classes. With a maximum of three clients, these classes are an economical option that still allows for a fully individualised rehab program.

Claiming on Private Health

If you have physiotherapy cover, you should be able to receive a private health rebate for both private and group Clinical Pilates classes. Please check with your insurer before commencing if you are unsure.
