Jeroen Mattheus

Senior Physiotherapist

Jeroen is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in running-related injuries and lower limb conditions. He treats everything from ankle sprains and muscle strains to hip and knee pain and post-surgery rehab. He also has a particular interest in running assessments, concussion treatment and temporomandibular (jaw) dysfunction.

After a few running injuries of his own, Jeroen knows how it feels to be sidelined from the sport you love, and it’s what sparked his passion for rehabilitation. He graduated with a Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy from Ghent University in 2014, followed by a postgraduate degree in manual therapy, and has trained around the world to become a certified Neurokinetic Therapist, an approach focused on restoring muscular imbalances. Central to his work is a holistic approach that combines expert assessment and rehab programming with hands-on therapy.

Originally from Belgium, Jeroen worked in clinics there before moving to New Zealand, where he ran his own practice for about three years, and then on to Melbourne. Running is his big passion. He has completed 8 marathons, including Melbourne, with a PB of 2:32:11, and in 2026 he ran 500km over 13 days along parts of the World War I front line. Having been through the injury and recovery process himself, Jeroen brings real understanding and a warm, down-to-earth approach to every person he treats, whether you’re training for your next race or just want to move without pain!

Top tip for better musculoskeletal health:

Performing 30 jumps a week has a massive impact on your bone and muscle strength.

I unplug, unwind, and recharge by:

Putting on my running shoes and doing a lap around Albert Park or next to the water.
