Clinical Rehab Classes

Move, improve, strengthen

When it comes to mobility, strength and flexibility we believe in the motto ‘move it or lose it’, which is why Clinical Rehab classes are integral to The Alignment Studio’s philosophy. Incorporating Pilates based movement, these active physiotherapy sessions allow those with injury, pain or dysfunction to engage in a dynamic and personalised rehabilitation program under clinical supervision.

What Is Clinical Rehab And Who Is It For?

Therapeutic and evidence-based, The Alignment Studio’s Clinical Rehab classes incorporate personalised, physio-prescribed exercises to speed up your recovery or improve your physical function. Designed for individuals with injuries, biomechanical inefficiencies, chronic pain or illness, Clinical Rehabilitation is physiotherapy that draws on the principles of Pilates and exercise science. Both small group and individual sessions are available.

Empowering you to be active in your own recovery, Clinical Rehab sessions are taken by our physiotherapists and can assist in the management of:

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Rotator cuff and shoulder injuries
  • Hip, knee or ankle pain
  • Postural issues
  • Balance and coordination problems
  • Restricted mobility
  • Maternal health (pre and postnatal)
  • Women’s health and pelvic floor weakness
  • Degenerative and neurological disease

If you are free from injury and pain, and want to improve your fitness, you could also choose our Reformer Pilates classes. However, please note that under new regulations private health rebates do not apply to pure Pilates or yoga classes—including those taken by a physio.

OUR QUICKSTART PROGRAM

All new clients are required to complete our QuickStart Clinical Rehab Program before transitioning into group classes. The QuickStart Program involves a series of up to three one-on-one sessions with a physiotherapist. After a thorough initial assessment—often utilising real-time ultrasound to provide visual feedback around the correct core muscle activation—an individualised program is structured around your injury history and movement mechanics.

During your private sessions, you’ll be familiarised with any Pilates equipment that may be used during your rehabilitation. This ensures your exercise program can be conducted effectively and safely in a small group environment.

Once you have completed the QuickStart Clinical Rehab Program, you may wish to continue with private sessions, or move into our group classes. With a maximum of four clients, our group classes are an economical option that still allows for a fully individualised rehab program.

Claiming on Private Health

If you have physiotherapy cover, you should be able to receive a private health rebate for your Clinical Rehab classes. Please check with your insurer before commencing if you are unsure.
